long time no see.

i believe laguna beach is my new favorite show. this is unfortunate because it probably has the worst storyline i've ever seen and the worst camera work i've ever seen as well. but i just can't get enough of it. i watched like four or five episodes today cause mtv is running a marathon because season two starts tonight and i had to stop myself. i want to get the season one dvd before i start watching the second. but it's such a great show.. i swear it's like watching us on tv.. a better looking, more attractive version of us on tv lol. but really, it's so us. we should start making a tv show. "Sandy Hook: The Real Monmouth County"... i know i would watch it. i'll bring in my videocamera when school starts.

i don't blame you for being you, but you can't blame me for hating it.

i ordered the jason mraz, frou frou, and m.i.a. cds off of amazon today, but they won't be coming for another week. blah. but we did get one dollar off because of that burger king card. and oh my fucking god, burger king has fucking chicken fries now. i didn't think burger king could GET any better, but they did. jesus. i think that's where god goes to eat dinner.

unfortunately i didn't have enough time to download a completely new cd today. tomorrow, i promise.

ps. the word 'trippy' is used in this review. :D

Siblings Chauntelle, Sherri, Stacy, and Weston Dupree and childhood friend Jon Wilson formed the band known as Eisley as a mere coffeehouse act in their hometown of Tyler, Texas as children. But news of their haunting melodies and whimsical lyrics quickly spread, and they were soon picked up by Coldplay in 2003 to be the opening act for their U.S. tour. Two years later, after a few EP's, Eisley releases their debut album Room Noises, an amazing mix of songs both old and new.

Vocalists Sherri and Stacy truly shine throughout the record. The blend they create between soprano and alto sounds beautiful and almost unreal. "Memories", one of the strongest tracks, shows this right off the bat and provides an excellent opening to the album. The first single, "Telescope Eyes", has the sisters pleading 'Please don't make me cry, I'm just like you, I know you know, I'm just like you so leave me alone' while Weston excels on the drums and Chauntelle and Jon create some terrific background riffs on guitar and bass respectively. Next is the melancholy "I Wasn't Prepared" and, while slow, it delivers some of the best vocals of all. Country-tinged "Golly Sandra" is one of the good surprises on the record based solely on the fact that it sounds so different from the other tracks. The gem of the bunch is "Marvelous Things". Combining trippy lyrics like 'I followed a rabbit through rows of mermaid-entwined shrubbery' and outstanding vocal scales, the five bandmates produce a real winner. The best verse you'll find is in "Brightly Wound"; Sherri and Stacy sing cooperatively to create a magical effect like no other.

"Lost At Sea" starts the latter half of the album with a piano-filled shanty (surprise, surprise) about being, well, lost at sea. "My Lovely" is a little more rock-oriented than the other tracks, but that only adds to its charm. Basically acoustic, "Just Like We Do" and "One Day I Slowly Floated Away" showcase more of the Dupree sisters' voices without any extra additives. Sandwiched in between those two is "Plenty of Paper", another strong number with catchy lyrics and a quick beat. "Trolley Wood", the final track, is complete with finger-snaps and hand-claps and completes the record just as magnificently as it started.

Contrary to many other artists' debuts, there isn't a weak track to be found on Room Noises. The ethereal voices of Sherri and Stacy add to the fairytale-like quality of the music played by the rest of the members of Eisley. Not to be too quickly categorized or judged, Room Noises will stay in your head long after the cd has finished playing.

AGHH! Trippy! I remember that. Yay, we are so cool. Actually, I believe our tv show was called Sandy Hook: The Real Jersey Shore, since we already planned that. But good try.
